looks like i'm going back to school with nothing done.

i'm not catching up with my studies well. in fact, i'm not doing anything well. i don't know why, i just can't grasp the foundation well enough dammit. i guess the teachers have made a mistake putting me into 3/7 ): everyone's passing freaking well and here i am (supposedly showing a good example) failing everything no matter how hard i try. okay maybe i'm not trying hard enough, maybe i have to try find another way of learning since sec3 textbooks are rather useless.

there's IJ fiesta proposal to be handed up by tomorrow and no one, no one seems to be cooperating at all. okay maybe only a handful of them are but other than that, no. i guess its not easy being in charge of these stuff ): i really wonder how my seniors handed it, honestly. either they did it all by themselves without getting any opinions from others or the later generations are becoming worst.

okay so holidays are over with just a wink of an eye. i BARELY did anything productive luh! i didn't even get the chance to do my holiday assignments which are like piling up real darn high now ):

anyway, the regatta was badddd. i meant, i could have done better but ahwells. i guess there's always a next time? so from now till the next regatta or in-house race, i'll train really hard and try to improve my stamina and skills so as to achieve better results and POOF! i'll be happy girl (:

ahhh i made lots of new friends from this regatta too! got to know my team mates better and i guess we kinda bonded even more :D cool huh. during those five days, both seniors and juniors came by to see us! even if it just for 10min! i'm so touched. honestly (:

grahhhh. i don't like most national sailors. notice the word 'most'. they curse and swear at you just so that you'll be scared by them and without thinking if you have the right of way or not, you'll find youself tacking away so that you won't be in their path. shit heads

the week's passing real quickly. i am so happy today, wanna know why? cause its the last day of studying! tomorrow's sports day, and friday and monday is E-Learning Day! (: i am so glad that i'm in IJ cause i don't think any other school would ever, ever enjoy such luxuries. its like ever other week i'm looking forward to something cause somehow, the week always ends with an extra holiday/ day off in that sense.

today we had dragon boat training - as usual. and sharon was making fun of my gloves and booties tan! hmmph :l anyways, training was quite okay. rather tiring though :l and i guess, sharon is starting to go down really hard on us but i am fine with it. haha its the only way we can defend our title anyway.

looking at how well the sec4s & 5s did for their olevels, i felt a sense of responsibility - the responsibility to keep up to their standard.

many a time, i always tell myself that i'll have ample time later on to either study or complete my homework but in the end, i end up not doing both. the most ironic thing is, my yearly resolutions are always 'not to procrastinate'. like how dumb is that.

i always tell myself things like 'okay olga. its a new year, a new beginning, you must work even harder then before. no sleeping in class, no late work & be more responsible.' however, these things don't ever come true. perhaps, it may be because i do not persevere hard enough. everytime i try to study, i'll fall asleep on the textbook. everytime i take out my homework to do, i'll also fall asleep on it. why do i always find academics such a bore?! okay maybe i don't but its just that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak :l do you get what i mean? perhaps i'm just not as academically gifted as everyone else ):

anyhow; i've decided i want to be a missionary. i can't figure out why i want to be one but i've always wanted to go places like the dumpsite in payatas to help those less fortunate there. perhaps its a calling? perhaps i've been living in an atmosphere of luxury and wealth all my life that i wanted to do something different right now? i'm not really sure about that though.

so maybe for this year's Internal Service Project (ISP) i'll probably join faith formation. its not really a missionary thing but at least it is about helping someone elses who is new to the catholic church to know more about the catholic faith? i think its quite a good start (:

haha ohya i've been thinking if i should take art elective or not cause i only have 7 subjects. so should i decide to drop 1(hopefully not), or fail very badly(touch wood), i would have art to rely on. someone please advice me ! (: thanks! :D

after caroling practice yesterday night,
we all went to men's kitchen for a drink.

so anyway,
i slept at 5.15am the night before just to do the video
that some other comm members was suppose to do.
AND THEY DIDN'T DO IT IN THE END.
so i have to sacrifice my sleep for that >:l

i don't know why but i was just very frustrated & grumpy the entire day.
and the farewell didn't turn out the way we planned it to be.
its just too bad that odac has some freaks
who think that the whole world is theirs
and want to control every single human being in their life.

i often find no one but myself blaming
me for being too coward and dumb and 'can never be a serious' person.
i can never bring myself to stand up & voice it out loud.
i just can't.
it feels like i'm stuck in a deep hole.

i hate to see the way things are being run.

petra & i woke up late so we went for 930 mass

i can imagine how john's reaction would be like.
i missed like 1 whole month of choir prac alr.

1st week - in-house race
2nd week - river regatta
3rd week - carnival by the straits (was supppose to do CIP initially)
4th week - overslept.

PLUS!
on thurdays i skipped prac too cause of sailing farewell.
i mean, if you ask me to choose between prac and farewell,
i would definitely choose farewell.

simple fact that i can practise christmas carols on my own
while i won't be able to see my seniors in school anymore starting next year.

so yep.
this was kinda how i spent my week.

and for the next 2 days,
i'll be off to camp with the antagonist(s).

you can never imagine how much fun we had.

it wasn't much of a competition for us IJ girls.
basically, we just went there for the experience in taking part in huge events like these.
HAHA nonetheless we did our best and came in first.
now, i finally understood why KC girls really disliked us a alot.

i) we grabbed every medal off the shelf during inter-schools.
ii) they knew we had higher chance of getting the gold medals when we turned up for training sessions at the club 2 weeks before the river regatta.
iii) SIGH..

haha i'm not so mean okay. but anyway, thanks to those who came down to support us today ! especially alex & joan! haha they were so cute luh. they were running late and they thought that my race was starting alr so they started running out of the mrt station just to catch my 2 min+ race. but in the end, my race was delayed and they cheered for the wrong team. HAHA but its okay ! haha.

gabby & lizzie; such sweeties. they came with me all the way from church so early in the morning! hurrhurr just to support us too! aww so sweet too bad i didn't have a camera with me then not i could've taken a picture with you guys! :D

clarissa was there too ! OOH (: haha cause her aunt was rowing too ! aww clarissa is just as sweet :D

SENIORS! love love love y'all. despite the crapping Os, they came down to support us too ! wheee i've never had seniors whom have done that for us before besides during inter-school when bow, ali, val & all came down. it really makes my day (: HONESTLY.

and thanks for those smses too! :D and i think mayflower secondary has VERY GOOD sportsmanship. even though they came in last & second last, they still congratulated us! i mean, like if our school lost or something, i don't think they WILL do that, will they? uh huh so yep, i've learnt something from them today :D NEVER BE SORE LOSERS. LOSE WITH PRIDE, WIN WITH PRIDE.

it was quite obvious that sharon (our coach) was rather disappointed that her team did not get into the grand-finals or sth. haha but at the end of the day, i guess what cheered her up the most was that she's the coach of a bunch of champs and also not forgetting, a bunch of "little birds" which talks non-stop. HAHAHA. i really hope that she & le jie can continue to coach us for the next inter-school & the next river regatta! :D trust me, they're the best coaches i've had so far ! :D

anyhow;
i just wanted to say this to my fellow dragon boaters:
though we started training for this reagatta really late, i am really proud to see that many of y'all put in your '200%'-quotes ms teo. into the race. the fact that we started late and still did really well amazes me alot. but of cause, the glory of winning isn't everything. its is only through teamwork and believing in oneself that we can get what we brought back for IJ today. so yep (: i'm really proud of you guys! so i'm gonna end of with OUR signature IJ dragon boating cheer :D

it was the coolest excursion ever..

there's actually a MILITARY SCHOOL behind discovery centre.

in the military school,
there's this really tall tower - 60 stories.
when the cadets first enter the school,
they have to take several test.

and one of the test involve the cadets
to climb the 60 story tower and throw a rope
down from a 'window' and climb down from there.
SCARY, but that is what it takes to enter the school.

Hahah. People seem to have alot to gossip and talk about this week, no thanks to The Straits Times and their innovative way of providing entertainment. Intended for fun perhaps. But definitely not so for the IJ family.

The Sunday Times has taken a rather controversial role in forums after their article on IJ Girls was published. No doubt it has served the purpose of hype, but also drew many a sharp retaliation from IJ mouths all around the island. Edwin for a start, got "flamed" for just posting his views on the sensitive issue. What with an anonymous IJ girl throwing negative comments of all sorts up and down his poor flashbox.

I'll give my view of the issue then. I couldn't help but think, on the bus to school today, why IJ? Of all the girls schools. Why not MGS? Or SCGS? Or Crescent? And even the other, I would say, even more "easy" girls from what have you schools? Afterall, low socks and low belts seem to be the "in" thing these days. Miss Tan happened to tell us that during her time, girls wore socks with some "pom-pom" thing jingling at the back. What was it about IJ that made it such an clear- cut subject of unnecesary public scrutiny? The number of schools was the first answer that came to mind. But then again, probably because they are the most well-known and prominent girls schools around. And good ones at that.

Everyone wants to be "cool" and "stylish" these days. Not just girls, but boys too. And I think they all have this sort of cool image they want to portray to their society, regardless in school uniform or in street wear. There must be a preservation of image, something constantly maintained and built upon, so the other "cool dudes" would have nothing negative to say about their style, even in school uniform. It's the same everywhere with minimal exceptions. Girls wear short skirts and tight blouses while boys don loose jeans and spike their hair. So why IJ? The name and reputation?

I remember going to my sisters' school once (IJTP of course. Every female in my family passed through those doors). They were in primary school then and there were like posters everywhere, speaking in volumes the identity of an IJ girl. Things like " An IJ girl is polite" and "An IJ girl is respectful". And now we have IJ girls, from what I hear from my sister herself, girls wearing pink, orange, red and every other rainbow coloured undergarment to school. So much for Simple In Virtue then.

But then again, I am generalizing here, speculating in half-truths. I know for sure IJ breeds their girls to become ladies of grace and wit. Not to mention outspoken. And through my encounters with them, erm, "indecent" and "easy" wouldn't be the words to use. Afterall, there are worse girls (every girl wants to look good, that's a fact). And they can look good without revealing too much. Yes. I prefer to use the words "outgoing" and "sociable". They would serve as better adjectives. Call them euphemisms if you like.

But then, look at the IJ response. Fierce and out to kill. Storming forum pages and flaming blog posts. Nothing wrong with that. I would feel the same if my alma mater received such damaging comments. But what you feel must not control the way you act. I understand where all the salvos came from, but really, no point getting to worked up and flustered over some stupid article. I think IJ is stronger than that. Just say enough to remedy the problem. Then let it rest. If it isn't within the influence to silence wagging tongues. No matter how one screams, it wouldn't help.

Yes. I know people will argue about it being school pride and all. 152 years of proud history and heritage, Father Barre and all. I can imagine the Lasallian heritage being mangled and marred. And I can imagine the powerful vibes that will be produced. School name is important, especially schools of rich history. To receive an uncalled for blemish on the shield would be war. People like us are instant in reactions to such comments.

But is it really something uncalled for? Or is there another point to identify and rectify? Will this be a wake up call to all those "indecent" characters that have unknowingly hurt the IJ name?Well.

That remains to be seen.
